I am glad to visit the Wheatland and learn the history of the
Lancaster.
1. How did it
feel to be on this trip today?
I couldn't stop being
excited since I got up. Because I had class in that morning, I want my class
first. However, I can’t focus on that class for that I will visit one of
the president’s house. It would be a nice trip I thought.
2. What is one thing you learned?
I learned that this president didn’t get married and lived in that
house until he died.
3. What surprised you about today's trip?
I am surprised at the study room which the president used to work
and receive visitors. There was protected pretty well, we can even saw some
books and documents in the bookshelf.
4. What would you like to know more about, based on
your experience today?
I want to learn more about his daily life in that house and his
collection in rooms.
5. What was happening in your home country during the
time period that James Buchanan lived at Wheatland (the mid to late 1800's)?
China was in the Qing dynasty, but china was gradually going
downhill. Besides, in the end of the 19th century, china was conquered
by Europe centuries, and was becoming a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society.
